  18. host of Masterpiece Theater for 22 seasons, the preternaturally
  19. polished ALISTAIR COOKE has alleviated the Sunday blahs for
  20. thousands of TV viewers. But next week Cooke, 84, bids his final
  21. good night. All erudite entertainment, Cooke brought
  22. sophisticated credibility to the salacious likes of I, Claudius
  23. and informed social commentary to classics such as Brideshead
  24. Revisited. His replacement? PBS is still looking for someone to
  25. fill the seat.
